GT Show Off New RCF at AMAC
Not Just for Guitar Players
September is as good a time as any for a trip to Surfers Paradise, and with that thought in mind, the Australian Music
Association Convention and Trade Exhibition, (AMAC) at the new Gold Coast Convention Centre in Queensland saw most Australian
music shop retailers checking out the latest in musical instruments, music technology and increasingly, sound and PA gear.
Audio has been a rapidly growing area of the musical instrument market for the last ten years and the number of professional
audio distributors that were present at the AMAC show reflects this.
The main trade floor had just about everything musical available in Australia, including Nexo,
RCF and Quest
Apart from what was on offer across the trade show floor, two dedicated PA system, mini-demo theatres were in continuous
operation, one of which sponsored and stocked by Group Technologies. On demo were Nexo, the new series RCF powered full-range
speakers, RCF powered sub-bass, and Quest Engineering.
All who subjected themselves to the demo were amazed as to how much SPL can emanate from a plastic speaker box these days
(that is, when the systems are properly designed and not just marketing exercises). There is no substitute for just lining
up the boxes for a shootout, in a reasonable representation of the intended gig.
In the ‘what’s new department’, the latest series of RCF Art series – light-weight high-powered
boxes – were a big hit, while the new RCF powered sub-bass systems were a real show on their own. You don’t
have to be an expert to stage a professional sounding show anymore. The combination of powered boxes and sub-bass means
an instant PA system that is powerful, easy to set up, almost fool-proof, and not a sound tech to be seen. Music shop owners
are starting to discover something that audio rental companies have known all along, if you stock the right products, you
will have a lot of happy customers that come back.
Memories of the RCF Art 500a – It’s Time
to Move On
Do you remember the old RCF Art 500a? Maybe not but you would never forget one if you had to carry it up a flight of stairs.
Yes they were heavy, but they were the loudest plastic devices since the invention of plastic high explosives! They were
reputed to have more output than any other 15 + 2” driver multi-way concert box regardless of brand or price.
Thanks to new technology neodymium drivers, refined electronics and more sophisticated processing, the new model, now caller
RCF Art 325 (pictured), has almost the same output, full frequency hi-fidelity reproduction and a fraction of the weight.
RCF are the only speaker box manufacturer that also design and make all its own drivers. With a long history of manufacturing
for other box assemblers, RCF components have a reputation second to none for reliability and consistent quality control.
The polymer sandwich suspension system in RCF bass drivers is unique and the strongest suspension around. This is very important
for today’s high-cone excursion designs, necessary for front-loaded and band-pass boxes.

Stacks of Power in a compact but comprehensive amplifier module with over 400 watt RMS
power output coupled to very efficient components delivers 129 dB of very high fidelity sound.

Wireless Remote Control gives you a number of parameters including Eq, mute and other
useful functions. This is especially handy for flown delay or remote satellite boxes. |
From Darling to King
If the old model RCF Art series was the ‘darling’ of the hire industry, the new Art will be the best multi
purpose box under $6,000.00. (For that figure you could buy three of them). As an added bonus, the new Art series make killer
foldback wedges. A choice of 12-15 &1” or 12”-15” & 2” drivers, makes this series a true
pro format without the weight or expense. If you’re in the zone of the high-pressure gig, you’ll want one, (or
twenty).
Apart from great design, RCF Speaker boxes have one extra advantage; RCF Precision series speakers. What makes RCF components
so good? Ultra high temperature inside and outside wound coils, unique polymer sandwich suspensions and exceptional build
quality.
This especially applies to RCF’s bass drivers. RCF could rightfully be labelled “the king of doof!”
The RCF polymer suspension system is the toughest in the business
Build quality is second to none
And so is the finish. The latest series of RCF top end drivers are quite exceptional
