Tassie Soundscape Festival was a NEXO Experience
Tasmania's Soundscape festival on Australia Day 2008 saw some of the countries best bands, and a few great international acts, turn it up in a great Hobart setting by the river. The Sound Company was responsible for audio production on the two big stages and chose to use a NEXO GEO-D rig for the main stage. A decision that helped the festival become a true sonic experience for all in attendance.
Only a few blocks from the heart of the city, The Domain Regatta Grounds, Hobart was the waterfront location for the city's Soundscape Festival. With water views and Mt Wellington as a backdrop the scene was set. Acts performing on the day included The Living End, Grinspoon, Blue King Brown, Spoon, Krafty Kuts & Dynamite MC, Mia Dyson, Katalyst, and the Resin Dogs. To bring it all together, the festival needed perfect sound production, which is where Tassie's kings of audio, The Sound Company, stepped in.
The Sound Company supplied the audio for both main stages, the Domain Stage and the Derwent Stage. The Domain stage (or "Da Main Stage", ya gettit?), had a NEXO GEO-D rig with six GEO-SUBs and six CD-18s, to boot, along with four of the new NEXO GEOS1230 used as front-fill. On foldback duties were 12 mighty NEXO PS-15, an LS1200 and finally a couple of NEXO Alpha-e boxes for side fill. All powered by Camco Vortex amps for F.O.H. and Camco Tecton amps for FB.
The Derwent (River) stage rocked its sound through more NEXO, in the shape of four Alpha M3s, eight Alpha EMs and 12 Alpha B1-18 subs. Another dozen NEXO PS-15s were used for foldback and again the Camco combo of Vortex for F.O.H. and Tecton for FB were on powering up duties.
All in all the festival organisers were mighty impressed with the sound provided by The Sound Company and the Australia Day event went off without a hitch. All who enjoyed the music in the great surrounds of Hobart had a great day with thanks to NEXO and some fine music performances.
